7 Common Myths of Reducing Weight

Whether you are watching on TV, reading magazines, or searching online, everybody have a different view on how to lose weight. There is a long list of different tricks for reducing weight fast, and it looks like a new one is revealed every day. But how do you differentiate between myths and facts? Here are some diet myths that if not avoided, may be harmful for your body.

Skipping Meals for Reducing Weight
Skipping meals deprives your body from essential minerals and vitamins. When you eat celery only for two or three weeks, your body will go into starvation mode. So when you stop dieting you will gain back the weight even quicker than you lost it.

Fat is Bad for Your Health
There exists two types of fats, namely unsaturated fats and saturated fat. Health nutritions consider that about 1/3rd of our energy comes from fats. Unsaturated fats found in seafood, avocado and olive oil can reduce cholesterol level and help in transferring fat soluble vitamins A, E, D, and K in our body. Bad fats are only saturated fat found in cookies, fried foods and margarine. So avoid saturated fat only and take unsaturated fats.

The Magic Weight Reducing Pill
There is no existence of a magic weight reducing pill. We should never use drugs for reducing weight until a health practitioner approved it. Without doctors verification any type of drug can be much dangerous for your health.

Fat Burning Foods
Grapefruit, cabbage soup and celery are considered as fat burning foods. If you switch high calorie diet with low calorie diet and workout regularly, you will start reducing weight. But if you are willing to eat grapefruit without switching it with a high calorie diet, reducing fat is not possible.

Water Flushes Fat
The claim that water flushes fat out of your body is not true. Water is essential to your body, but drinking a lot of water will not make you start reducing weight. Too much drinking of water can be dangerous. What does help you reducing weight is replacing your soda with a glass of water.

No Pain, No Gain
No pain, no gain is a myth that panics people and take them away from exercise. In reality it is not necessary for a workout to be painful in order to be effective. A healthy diet plan should be accompanied by physical activity. Even a regularly planned walk on treadmill can be a successful workout for you.

Eating Late Causes Weight Gain
Whether at breakfast or right before going to sleep, it is not about when you eat, it is about what you eat. What matters is how much you eat and how physically energetic you are in a 24 hour period.

Remember: do not base your diet plan based on what people think or their suggestions about weight loss, instead choose a diet plan you feel comfortable with and that will definitely work for you.
